About me

Me, arriving home after spending 10 days away from my kids.

Mom to three girls, 6 horses, 9 dogs, 2 cats, lots of chickens (including Mrs Bobsmack – Bob for short) and a hamster.  BC (before children) a wanna be professional (practising as an attorney) but now just a Mom – which we all know isn’t as simple or easy as it sounds.  I’m also a wife – to my alleged husband – and a friend to a collection of crazy, diverse and strange people.

I am privileged.

I grew up in a typical 70’s and 80’s middle class existence.  My parents both worked.  Neither of my parents had completed school, but they had more (worldly goods) than their parents.  My mom passed away when I was 15 (almost 16).  Her ashes are hidden somewhere between my underwear and socks.  My brother now works in Chicago and Grandpa lives in his flat, in Florida (the South African version) with his brother.

Most of the time – between 10pm and 5am – I feel in complete control of my life.  For the rest of the time I feel like I’m running on a treadmill – with little water breaks now and again.  Often I feel like I am being chased on this treadmill and sometimes I am definitely chasing someone or something.  I think we all have this feeling.

I am a dreamer.
